Garland Thomas-McDavid has dedicated the past 15 years to improving educational outcomes for students in Illinois and is currently the president of North Lawndale College Prep, a charter public high school in the North Lawndale community of Chicago. She completed her doctoral studies at DePaul University, where she also taught graduate courses as an adjunct professor, and earned her bachelor's and master's degrees at Florida State University.
