Chicago, IL - Education Post, a media project of the Results in Education Foundation, today announced that its board of directors unanimously approved Chris Stewart as the organization’s new CEO, effective May 1. Stewart currently serves as the chief executive of Wayfinder Foundation, and is a lifelong activist and 20-year supporter of nonprofit and education-related causes. His appointment as CEO marks a return to Education Post, having formerly served as the organization’s director of outreach and external affairs from 2014 to 2017. Education Post founder Peter Cunningham plans to step down from his role as executive director and will serve as chairman of Education Post’s board of directors.
“I am thrilled to welcome Chris back to Education Post as our new CEO and pass the torch to someone so fearless, committed and passionate about public education,” said Cunningham. “I have every confidence Chris will lead Education Post to even greater achievements. I am equally confident that our staff and our national network of writers and bloggers will continue to advocate for children, teachers and parents, challenge conventional thinking, and drive the dialogue we need to get better results for kids.”
Stewart rejoins Education Post excited to strengthen the organization’s impact and motivated by an unapologetic desire to redirect education advocates toward achieving stronger outcomes for all students.
“It’s inspiring and impressive to see how Education Post has elevated the voices of those who matter most above the elite and philosophical voices that often dominate education reform,” said Stewart.
“Still, the ideological debate we reformers have exhausted over how to improve the education system as a whole is weakening our ability to achieve better outcomes for every kid. To continue making progress, we must shift our focus, and I believe Education Post is poised to lead the sector in a productive conversation that will yield tangible results for kids.”
As CEO, Stewart plans to expand opportunities for education advocates to join Education Post in elevating and activating the families and educators fighting for better student outcomes—not because it’s nice to have their involvement, but because student success depends on their involvement.
He looks forward to working with Education Post’s staff and growing network of bloggers to expand an open forum that embraces new perspectives and prioritizes student achievement over futile debates centered on school governance structures, ideology, and politics.
