Matt Halvorson is a writer, musician, activist and father. He is the primary author of Rise Up For Students, a blog focused on educational equity and racial awareness in Washington State. He also founded and continues to manage the Rise Up Music Project, a music platform that shares the ongoing creative processes of artists and activists. A veteran of several seasons in professional baseball front offices and four years as a program coordinator with the “I Have a Dream” Foundation in Oregon, Matt currently sits on the advisory board for Explorer X, a Seattle-based transformational travel company. Matt also wrote and recorded nearly 50 original songs for the Rise Up Music Project podcast in 2019, and his solo album, “Sermons,” is available everywhere except Amazon.Matt lives in Seattle with his partner, Lindsay, and their four kids. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Augustana University. He likes to drink coffee, write songs, coach baseball, and sit around campfires, among other things.
